EXPERIENCE
For over a decade attorney Jason Minnicozzi has served as an Assistant Public Defender and then transitioned to an Assistant District Attorney in Columbus, Bladen, and Brunswick counties. After qualifying for public service student loan forgiveness Jason is thrilled to take his experience directly to the public. As the Chief Assistant District Attorney in Columbus County, Jason handled serious felony cases, including murder, Statutory Sex Offenses, including child exploitation, and violent crime while managing the day-to-day operations of the Columbus District Attorney's office. An assistant public defender Jason defended individuals charged with every level of criminal offense from stop sign violations, DWIs, and first-degree murder. Jason’s vast experience advising law-enforcement agencies, including homeland security, FBI and SBI agents, and local law enforcement agencies has given him the unique experience to defend your rights when accused of a crime.
During Jason‘s experience in the public sector, Jason provided legal advice to clients facing serious felonies, law enforcement agents seeking investigatory and charging advice, and worked closely with the US Attorney’s Office to prosecute multi-jurisdictional matters. In addition as an ADA in Brunswick and Columbus counties, Jason prosecuted public corruption, misconduct, and excessive force matters, including Southport PD and Chadbourn PD.

About Jason Minnicozzi
Raised in New Jersey, Jason Minnicozzi attended North Carolina State University from 2001 to 2005 and earned a bachelor's degree in criminology. Following his college education, Jason Minnicozzi attended Campbell University, Norman Adrienne Wiggins School of law. After graduating in 2010, Jason began his practice in Wilmington, North Carolina, eventually joining the New Hanover County public defenders office in 2013 and transitioning to the Brunswick County District Attorney's office in 2017. After qualifying for student loan forgiveness by serving more than 10 years of public service in NC, Jason has taken his talent and experience directly to the public. Jason has advised hundreds of law-enforcement officers, and agencies across Southeastern North Carolina, including the child advocacy centers in New Hanover, Brunswick, and Columbus Counties.
